Same family. Same bar top. Same beer tap.
The better part of a century on the same corner, run by the same family. Before it was the Scoreboard it was Schweda’s Barbecue.
The white-washed building on Old Rand Road has changed its name more than it has changed anything else. The bar top is the original. So is the beer tap. Most of a century of Lake Zurich has leaned on both.
The beef comes from Orchard Prime Meats, the butcher on the same block, same parking lot. That is the whole supply chain: a half-pound patty, ground up the block, on the grill by lunch.
The rest is what a neighborhood bar is supposed to be. Games on every screen. A patio facing Breezewald Park and the lake when the weather turns. And a room where the bartender already knows the answer before you order.
Back open, and better than it was.
In February 2025 an electrical fire started in the basement. The smoke went through the whole building. Nobody was hurt; it happened after the last person had gone home. The Scoreboard was dark for about six months, came back after a full renovation, and the first thing regulars said when they walked back in was that it looked great.
Due to a fire in the basement, we will be temporarily closed for clean up and repairs. We are thankful this event occurred after our team left the building. Everyone is safe and sound.
